Merci Fran de nous avoir fait découvrir John Piper. J’ai été
très attirée à la fois par ses collages et par ses peintures et sérigraphies architecturales.
Nous habitons une commune, Tallard, qui possède un Château du XIVe siècle
classé monument historique et qui est en cours de restauration depuis quelques
années. A l’intérieur de la cour du château, se trouve la Chapelle Saint Jean construite
au début du XVIe siècle, de style gothique flamboyant.
J’ai choisi pour ce défi, de travailler la façade de cette Chapelle Saint Jean à
la manière la sérigraphie de John Piper « Petit Palais Pink and Yellow »
A partir d’une photo de la façade, j’ai utilisé un logiciel pour faire des retouches
et des modifications de couleur. J’ai ensuite imprimé chaque partie sur du
tissu coton, puis rassemblé les 4 éléments de la façade par couleur et placé l’ensemble
sur un interface un peu rigide. Ensuite le piqué libre souligne chaque élément
d’architecture.

We live in a commune, Tallard, which has a 14th
century castle listed as a historical monument and which has been undergoing
restoration for some years. Inside the castle courtyard is the Saint Jean
Chapel built in the early sixteenth century, in flamboyant Gothic style.
I chose for this challenge, to work on the facade
of this Chapel Saint Jean in the way silkscreen of John Piper «Petit Palais
Pink and Yellow»
From a photo of the facade, I used a software to
make alterations and modifications. Then I printed each part on cotton fabric, then
gathered the 4 elements of the facade by color and placed the whole on
an rigid interface. Then free machine embroidery underlines each element of
architecture.

Quelle bonne idée d'utiliser le style de Piper pour quelque chose de si personnel et si proche de toi. J'adore votre œuvre terminée, mais aussi le sentiment qui se cache derrière. Votre technique a produit quelque chose de très délicat et éthéré, j'aime particulièrement la façon dont certaines parties du bâtiment s'effacent. Je dois aussi te remercier car tu viens de me donner une idée ! Je dois admettre que je n'ai pas consacré beaucoup de temps à réfléchir à ce que je vais faire pour ce défi et c'est une négligence de ma part. Après le 10 mars, j'aurai un calendrier plus ouvert et je serai capable de penser clairement - alors je dois y aller...RAPIDEMENT !
J'espère que tu emmèneras ta pièce au château et que tu la leur montreras - je parie qu'ils adoreront !

What a great idea to use Piper's style for something so very personal and close to you. I love your finished piece but also the sentiment behind it. Your technique has produced something very delicate and ethereal, I especially like the way parts of the building fade away. I also need to thank you as you have just given me an idea! I must admit, I have not devoted much time to thinking about what I will make for this challenge and that is remiss of me. After 10th March I will have a more oopen calender and will be able to think clearly - then I need to get going...FAST!
I hope you take your piece to the Chateau and show them - I bet they would love it!

Love that you've personalised the interpretation. Your choice of colours is lovely and the Chapelle is so well defined - all the detail of the arches, the stonework. It's beautiful. And a nice variety of different materials used.

Quelle idée intelligente d'intégrer un bâtiment local spécial avec le défi inspiré par John Piper! C’est un beau résultat, les blocs roses et jaunes créant un arrière-plan saisissant. Et le détail du bâtiment lui-même est très impressionnant. Bravo!
