Thank you Fran for introducing us to John Piper. I was very attracted to both his collages and his
architectural paintings and Screenprint on paper
We live in a commune, Tallard, which has a 14th
century castle listed as a historical monument and which has been undergoing
restoration for some years. Inside the castle courtyard is the Saint Jean
Chapel built in the early sixteenth century, in flamboyant Gothic style.
I chose for this challenge, to work on the facade
of this Chapel Saint Jean in the way silkscreen of John Piper «Petit Palais
Pink and Yellow»
From a photo of the facade, I used a software to
make alterations and modifications. Then I printed each part on cotton fabric, then
gathered the 4 elements of the facade by color and placed the whole on
an rigid interface. Then free machine embroidery underlines each element of
architecture.
I wish you a beautiful day and look forward to the next challenge.
